— Business Review

A clear view of your business, and what to fix first.

The Business Review is a focused, independent assessment of how your business really works, concentrating on the one or two areas that matter most. You get written findings and a prioritized roadmap that are useful on their own. They’re also the natural starting point for an Advisory Partnership.

Scoped to your business and agreed in writing before we start. A focused review typically takes two to four weeks.

Who it’s for.

Owners of established, owner-operated businesses who sense the business could run better and want an independent, evidence-based view before committing to change. It’s also a sensible first step if you’re not yet sure what kind of help you need.

  1. 01

    What we look at

The one or two areas that matter most to your business right now, usually drawn from:

    • Operations & workflow
    • Financial & performance visibility
    • Cash and working capital
    • Roles & accountability
    • Decision-making & management rhythm
    • Systems & information
  2. 02

    How we review it

A focused, manageable assessment: conversations with you and a small number of key people, a targeted look at the numbers, and a close look at the areas in focus. It’s structured but not templated, and we follow the evidence.

Where a business needs more, such as wider interviews, deeper financial analysis or a detailed process investigation, a larger review is scoped individually. It isn’t the default.

  3. 03

    What it is not

Not a sales presentation, not an audit of every part of the business, and not accounting, tax or legal advice. It’s a practical assessment you can act on.

Involvement

Your team

  • Shares key numbers and documents, and time with a few key people
  • Gives candid views on what’s working and what isn’t
  • Decides what to act on, and when

Prosper

  • Leads the conversations and the analysis
  • Writes the findings, roadmap, quick wins and key measures
  • Leads the findings session

How it runs.

A focused review typically takes two to four weeks, depending mostly on how quickly information is available. A larger review, if one is needed, is scoped individually and takes longer.

  1. Week 0Focus & scopeAgree the focus, scope and fee in writing. You share a short list of information.
  2. Weeks 1–2DiagnoseA targeted look at the numbers, and conversations with you and a few key people.
  3. Weeks 2–3DesignRoot causes and practical options for the areas in focus, weighed by impact, effort, risk and cash.
  4. Weeks 3–4Findings sessionWe walk you through the report and roadmap, then answer questions.

What you receive.

Tangible, practical and yours to keep.

  • Findings report

A concise, plain-language assessment of what’s working, what isn’t, and why, with the evidence behind each finding.

  • Prioritized improvement roadmap

The few changes that matter most, in order, with expected effort, dependencies and who should own them.

  • Quick wins

Practical changes you can make in the next 30 days without outside help.

  • Key measures

A short list of numbers worth tracking, and how to track them.

  • Findings session

A working session with you (and your leadership team, if you choose) to go through everything.

What we may ask for.

We agree a short list at the start, based on the focus of the review. Usually some of the following. Don’t worry if something doesn’t exist; gaps are findings too. Everything you share is treated as confidential.

  • Recent financial statements and year-to-date results
  • Any regular management reports you already use
  • A list of roles and who does what
  • Anything written down about the areas in focus (processes, checklists, plans)
  • Time with a small number of key people
  • Your own view: what’s working, what isn’t, what you’d change

Tailored to your business. Agreed before we start.

Every Review is scoped to the size and complexity of your business, so we don’t publish a price list. After a first conversation, you receive a clear written proposal setting out the scope, who does what, the timing and the fee. Nothing begins until you’ve agreed to it in writing.

Every engagement follows the same four steps: a first conversation, a written proposal, your decision, and a written agreement before any work begins. How proposals work

After the Review, you decide.

There’s no obligation and no pressure. The roadmap is written so it’s useful whichever path you choose.

  1. Path 01

    Continue as an Advisory Partnership

We turn the roadmap into a 90-day action plan your team owns, then meet at an agreed rhythm to review progress, guide decisions and help clear obstacles.

  2. Path 02

    Act on it yourselves

Use the roadmap and quick wins with your own team. A single check-in later can be arranged separately.

  3. Path 03

    Keep the findings

Sometimes the right decision is to wait. You still have an independent view of the business to plan with.

Questions.

How much of my time does it take?

Typically a kickoff conversation, one or two follow-up conversations, gathering a short list of information, and the findings session. Usually a few hours across the review.

Will you talk to my staff?

With your agreement, yes: short conversations with a small number of key people, agreed with you beforehand. They make the findings far more accurate.

Is this confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is confidential, and we’re happy to sign a mutual non-disclosure agreement before you share information.

Do I have to continue with Prosper afterwards?

No. The Review is designed to be useful on its own. You can continue as an Advisory Partnership or act on the roadmap yourselves.

Will Prosper carry out the changes?

Your team carries out the changes. In a partnership we plan with you, advise, review progress and help resolve obstacles. If one specific change needs more intensive help, that can be scoped separately as an Improvement Project. If you need someone to run a major change for you, we’ll say so and help you work out what kind of help to look for.

We don’t have good financial reports. Is that a problem?

No. Weak visibility is a common finding, and improving it is often one of the first priorities.

Start with a clear view.

Tell us a little about your business. If a Business Review is the right first step, we’ll send a clear written proposal before anything begins.
